NGC 1566

 

This image of the spiral galaxy NGC 1566 was taken at Linden Observatory, in the Blue Mountains, on the 18th October 2014 at 2:54am, using the Evans 30" telescope and a Grasshopper Express camera.  It is a stack of 100 images each of 2 seconds. No darks, flats, or post processing. Levels adjusted for screen display only.

The supernova ASASSN-14ha is indicated in the lower right inset.  It was able to be seen visually (with difficulty) with the Evans 30 at high magnification.
