PicAligner
A cross-platform (Mac OS X and Windows) application to align still images taken over time, and make them into a quicktime movie.
Expected uses might be creating a movie of successive images taken through a microscope, where the field of view remains constant, but the object of interest may have different orientations in the series; or images taken of a stationary object from a moving car, where the final image has few points in common with the start image.
Written by Lars Jensen and Tony Barry.
RetAligner
A Mac OS X application to align two images, then blink between them rapidly. Any feature which differs between the two images will appear to “blink” on and off and be easily noted. Patterned on the “blink” microscope used in astronomy. This application was originally designed to work with images of human retinas, to isolate small changes in the retina over time. No-cost licence - registration required.
iChrome Pro v 1.4.6
A Mac OS X application to characterise Thermochromic Liquid Crystal (TLC) products and provide a colour to temperature conversion mechanism. TLCs are widely used in scientific thermometry, and in such domestic products as “mood rings” and stick-on freezer, fishtank and forehead thermometers. Two lookup table generators included (thermal bar and isothermal button).
Registration required - contact for pricing.
Chirometrics
A Windows human posture analysis application for the Chiropractic profession. It is designed to let chiropractors easily and quickly measure the results of spinal adjustments, without the problems of Xray film analysis with protractor and ruler. Chirometrics produces a printed report, with AP (front-on) and lateral (side-on) views. All images and data are saveable to database for future reference if desired.
USD199 licence - registration through PayPal. Works in demo mode without serial number.
scarInspector
A Macintosh OS X application designed to delineate regions of scarring in scans of Gomori - stained histological slides of myocardium. In Gomori's one-step blue procedure, the collagen and nuclei are stained blue, cytoplasm, erythrocyte and fibrin are stained pink to red. The application allows the scientist to load a scan of the slide, segregate pixels based on their hue, count them and obtain the percentage of pixels stained. No-cost licence - registration required.
Jaycar QM1538 multimeter interface
This project is for those experimenters who wish to do more with their QM 1538 DMM than the supplied WIndows software allows - e.g. running it on Mac OS X. The REALbasic 5.5 code deciphers the serial protocol used by the meter, and provides a simple control example. The code has been used on Mac OS9 and OSX (Jaguar, Panther, Tiger, and Leopard), and should also work on Windows. For Macintosh use, a Keyspan USB<->serial adapter works well. I have also used successfully a generic PL2303 USB<-> serial device.
The serial protocol decode is based on work by qm1538 AT year0 DOT com DOT au and posted on the Jaycar Hardcore forum at

Regression.rbo
A REALbasic 5.5 module that gives a linear regression or a quadratic regression to a two-dimension array. The code is copyright ©2008 Tony Barry but is free for use providing sources are acknowledged.
cViewCanvas.rbp
A REALbasic 2008r3 project containing a class which offers the programmer a resizeable canvas which can display pictures at either "fitted in window" or at a given zoom. The user can zoom on the location of the mouse click, and drag a region of interest (ROI) on the canvas in either zoomed in or fitted in window display.
The code is copyright ©2008 Tony Barry. Offered under the BSD 3-clause licence.
StellLXTSRB
A Macintosh OS X application to interface between Stellarium (versions 0.9.1 or 0.10.2 ) and Meade telescopes with remote control ability. A second Windows PC is not required to function as the server if you use this application.
REALbasic 2009r1 source code is available to the programmer wishing to take the idea further. Email me for the code.
The application is free to use, ©2009 Tony Barry. All rights reserved.
NickSorter
A Macintosh, Linux, and Windows application to deal with log files. It's a minimalist GUI front end for a few basic tools. No icon, no instructions, no nothing. As befits its intended use.
Toon Wei's XML ECG reader / reinventer.
Takes an XML file produced by a GE 5500 ECG machine, and extracts the lead data. Reinvents the missing leads according to algorithms provided by GE. Exports the resultant data to Prucka format.
Frame Extractor
This Mac application takes a movie file from iMovie HD encoded as a .mov and extracts individual frames as either TIFFs or PNG files. I use it to decompose GSTAR-EX images recorded in iMovie from a Canopus ADVC55 frame grabber, for running through Nebulosity 2's alignment systems (which requires individual frames and not movie files).
